Driving Open Science adoption with a global framework: the Open Science Monitoring Initiative
In May, the Open Science Monitoring Initiative unveiled a draft of Open Science monitoring principles, launching a global consultation. This collaborative effort, initiated at a UNESCO workshop, aims to create a unified framework for monitoring Open Science adoption worldwide.
Organizations like PLOS1 recognize the necessity of effective monitoring to advance Open Science practices. The initiative emphasizes the importance of context-specific yet comparable solutions to align the diverse needs of academic institutions, funders, and policy-makers globally.
By adopting shared principles, the scholarly community can better address systemic challenges and promote equitable paths to Open Science. This effort invites input from all stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive approach to monitoring and advancing Open Science practices.
